Battleship Island

The closing months of the Second World War saw Korean prisoner and former bandleader Kang-ok (Hwang) and his young daughter Sohee (Kim) captives in the Japanese internment camp on Hashima Island, also known as Battleship Island. Directed by Seung-wan Ryoo, this Korean historical drama follows their harrowing experience in the camp, where women of all ages are forced into prostitution for their overseers, and men are worked to exhaustion mining coal.
