The Yamato, a ship with revolutionary features, was completed in December 1941 and faced its final fate at the hands of American Navy carrier aircraft in the South China Sea while on a one-way mission to Okinawa. This 1/350 scale assembly kit display model is a minor modification to Tamiya's previous Yamato replicas, Items 78002 and 78014, and captures the ship's appearance just before its final mission.

The model accurately reproduces the Yamato's massive and imposing silhouette, and both the main gun turrets and secondary armament turrets can be rotated even after assembly. This highly accurate static display model requires paint and assembly, and comes with a display stand.
