Tamiya Models Battleship New Jersey BB-62 Model Kit

The 1/350 Scale US Navy Iowa class battleship, as modernized in 1982 to incorporate missile-carrying capabilities, features an updated kit with numerous new tool enhancements. These include 12.7cm DP guns, Mk.37 gun directors, Mk.38 direction finder, Mk.48 rangefinder, Mk.13 radar, and Mk.25 radar systems. The model boasts a single-piece full hull, intricately detailed deck surfaces with engraved plank texture where applicable, and a fully rendered superstructure complemented by fine deck fittings.

Equipped with an updated weapons suite, the battleship includes Harpoon and Tomahawk missile launchers, a Phalanx CIWS for close-in defense, and SRBOC rocket launchers. A filigree mast lattice enhances the realism, while the kit offers options for SH-60B helicopters with a choice of extended or stowed rotors, ship's boats, and replicas of 16" projectiles and Tomahawk missiles.

Additional features comprise a display stand with nameplates, metal propeller shafts, stainless steel wire for rigging Dicone-Cage antennae, and photo-etch detail parts such as helicopter deck fences, watertight doors, and components for the SPS67 radar, SPS49 radar, SRA57 antenna, and SRA58 antenna. A comprehensive reference booklet detailing the ship's historical background is also included.

The completed model measures approximately 30.5" in length and comes with a printed paper flag sheet, starboard color profile, and decals for hull markings, helipad, and upper works. Notably, the modern equipment, including Tomahawk and Harpoon missile launchers, as well as the Phalanx CIWS, are meticulously detailed to enhance authenticity.

Furthermore, the kit includes two 1/350 scale replicas of 16-inch shells and two Tomahawk missiles, adding further realism to the representation of this iconic warship.
